Special Issue Information |
| Marine hazards encompass a wide range of threats, including physical, geological, chemical, biological, engineering, meteorological, and environmental risks. Understanding and addressing these hazards requires the collaboration of a diverse group of marine experts. Identifying and predicting maritime threats not only reduces human, economic, and social costs of potential disasters but is also crucial for development strategies in marine ecosystems, coastal communities, and inland areas. Some marine hazards not only affect the marine environment and coastlines but also have significant effects on inland regions. For example, climatic events such as storms, droughts, and floods worldwide are influenced by oceanic cycles and climate change, and accurate prediction can help mitigate damages. The keywords and following list provides examples of maritime threats that can be considered as topics for a special issue focusing on MARINE HAZARDS. However, the scope of these threats extends beyond these instances, and many risks, including those not yet identified, are present. |
